FAQ - Safety

Below, we have gathered common questions regarding CO2 cleaning.

Are there any risks with liquid CO2?
When handled properly, there are no risks with liquid CO2. CO2 is non-toxic unless inhaled in large concentrations. Our own bodies produce it and the air we exhale contains 4% CO2.
The risks differ slightly with the different phases of CO2 - gaseous, liquid or solid. Gaseous CO2 may cause suffocation when found in large concentrations in closed areas. Solid or liquid CO2, or cold CO2 gas, may cause frost burns if unprotected skin is exposed to the CO2 or the cooled equipment.
The DryWash® equipment is designed to protect users from any potential danger.

The process uses a pressure of approximately 50 bar. Is this dangerous?
This pressure compares to that found in most other industries using gas products. The equipment involved in the process is rated for a higher pressure than what is used and the hardware is approved according to all relevant industry standards. As long as instructions are followed and the equipment is maintained the
process is very safe.

Do I need permission to install and operate CO2 cleaning equipment?
Regulations vary from country to country. The permissions required to install and operate the CO2 equipment can be divided into a few major areas: Building permission, Trade permission, Customer storage permission and Environmental permission.
Contact your local authorities and dry-cleaning organization for specific information.
